Rake Up Those Leaves Quickly and Easily

By James Smith

Of all the fall outside home chores, raking up and collecting leaves is one of the least popular. There are no lack of tools and hardware contraptions to help you pick up leaves from special leaf bag holders to leaf blowers of every sort. The cold weather is here and the autumn leaves are dropping and covering lawns across the nation. Here are some affordable things you can do to make your leaf clean-up a bit easier:

Rake at the correct time: A lot of people spend almost every weekend raking their leaves. Yet several days of windy weather just brings more leaves for the next weekend. You should just about always wait for non-rainy day to pick-up your leaves because they will be lighter and easier to work with. Of course, less breezy days are better because you will not be overwhelmed with more leaves blowing around as you try to pick up the leaves that have already covered your yard.

Consider mulching your leaves: You might want to consider using your leaves for mulch if you do not have very many to clean up. Many leaves can be used as a sort of home made mulch to keep your plants warm through the long winter months. You might want to use a leaf chipper to chop your leaves into small pieces that can be used as mulch.

Use the right tools: Gas leaf blowers are popular, but they can be loud and dirty. Some people depend on leaf blowers more than they should. Leaf blowers are broad blowing tools that can sometimes spread more leaves around your yard. For flower beds don't try to use a leaf blower, instead use a small leaf rake to pull the leaves out into a clearing where you have more space. You can also get creative and use your lawn mower to pick up leaves.

The tricks above can you finish your leaf pick up quickly and easily and give you more time to think about your next favorite outdoor task: shoveling snow! No one enjoys cleaning up leaves every autumn but most people love the shade provided by those trees during the summer months. With a little bit of planning the task of raking leaves from your lawn could be much less time consuming than you think. - 30234
