The Problem With Billbugs

By Neoma Archer

Who among you have heard just what billbugs really are? You still have not heard about them before? Never? I ask you now though if you have a lawn or a garden. If you do, then you probably have encountered billbugs but you just are unsure right now of what they really are and if you have come across them. You should know about them because it is important so that you can be able to handle them if they make their way to where you are.

What are billbugs? That is the question running through your mind right now and you are certainly racking your brains trying to picture if you have really seem them around. Well, billbugs are insects and they are not the usual ones that you see flying in the air or maybe hopping or walking on the walls. They are grubs and they are small and they are white in color. They do not have wings or even legs so they just crawl through. They may seem helpless but they can be pretty harmful if you let them be.

Small, are they not? Well, do not just take them for granted because they may seem really harmless compared to all other types of insects that you have come across all these years. But mind you, they can really bring it on especially if you do not do anything to handle them. If you knew what they could do, you certainly would not want them sticking anywhere within your lawn or your garden. They can turn your healthy grass into something seemingly rug-like because the grass would turn brown and you can pull them out in one swoop.

You would know that you have such insects in your lawn or your garden because there are brown parts already showing. Not that you have drought in them because the last time you checked, the water has gone deep enough that you can even not water your lawn for a day or two. See, what billbugs do is they work their way through the grass and into the stem. With that, the grass then turns unhealthy and they start to die. The roots then just do not continue to function and die as well without the stems functioning. That is what makes the parts brown and what makes the grass easily pulled out if you do so.

Another thing that you should know about billbugs is that they are quite active starting June right up to August. And the way to kill them is to actually bring on the right insecticide. With that, your billbug problem would be gone and your lawn would definitely thank you for that. So get that insecticide out once you start to see the symptoms that come with billbug infestation. Spray that on and let the chemical work its wonders. The next thing you know, your billbugs are gone and your lawn is going to be going back to its usual state. - 30234
