Having Fun Choosing a Patio Set Style

By Orben Petershein

Whether you can use outdoor patio sets year round as in Florida and California, or just during the summer, you want patio furniture that sets off your garden, matches the style home you have, and very importantly, is as comfortable and easy to use as possible. After all, everyone needs to relax, whether poolside, or lounging in the great outdoors with a good book.

Imagine yourself sitting in your garden, inhaling the sweet fragrance of the nearby flower bushes. Your yard can be your own outdoor sanctuary, where you sit comfortably on a chaise lounge covered with big, fluffy cushions. Outdoor patio sets can bring a perfect ambiance to the garden.

You will find that outdoor patio sets come in a variety of types. Should you be a naturalist, you may love outdoor patio sets that are made of wood, rich looking teak or cedar, for instance, or pine, cherry tree, acacia, eucalyptus or oak. Or if your home is more formal, you may lean toward patio furniture made of intricately formed white cast iron. Some find that they like bamboo, rattan or wicker, or even synthetic wicker that lends an "old" romantic style to your patio furniture. You may have a Tiki hut built in your pool area and decide that you prefer outdoor patio sets that are made of steel or aluminum that you can decorate with bright Hawaiian fabric cushions in flowery prints.

Maybe you would like the Adirondack chair style in your patio furniture set. You should remember that this style is not just for outdoor patio sets, but looks great on benches, porch swings, and rockers. Adirondack style furniture looks very nice with the old fashioned picnic table as well. If you are lucky enough to have a grand view from your garden, this is the perfect choice for patio furniture.

If you have a small balcony or patio, you might want to try one of the small and cozy bistro tables. A large patio isn't a requirement to use outdoor patio sets, there are a number of compact sets available.

If you enjoy entertaining guests on your patio, you will want to purchase patio furniture that has a dining table and enough chairs to accommodate your guests. A square or round table will normally seat 4-6 people and a rectangular table an seat 6 or more.

Most of the patio furniture sets you buy these days can be hosed off and washed occasionally with a mild soap and warm water. There are a number of great commercial cleansers available as well, depending on the type of furniture you chose. Some types will require painting, staining, or steam cleaning. It is best to follow the patio furniture manufacturer's recommendations when cleaning your outdoor patio sets.

The durability of your outdoor patio sets will rely on two things. First is the quality you purchase, and secondly the amount of time you spend on its maintenance. Thus, be sure you are up to maintaining the type you purchase, so you can enjoy it for a long time! - 30234
